Spot is powered by a custom-designed removable lithium-ion battery. The Spot Battery is considered a Fully Regulated Dangerous Good by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Air shipment of any Spot Battery is subject to UN3480, PI 965, Section IA, which is covered under the IATA.

Batteries must be properly packed in a U.N.-approved container, labeled, and declared according to IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

The battery state of charge must be less than or equal to 30 percent of rated capacity.

The net weight limit for any package containing batteries is 35 kg.

The battery must be shipped by cargo aircraft.
